Exploring, Caring, and Creating in the Bumblebee Room
The children in the Bumblebee Room have been making the most of the warm weather with a range of exciting and enriching activities. Recently, they’ve been exploring colour and creativity through ice and paint, discovering how colours mix and change in a sensory-rich experience that supports their understanding of the world and expressive arts.
The ice gets covered in paint and starts off as a cold, slippery cube but the more we played with it, the more it melted.

Sand play has also been a big hit, both indoors and outdoors. The children have been deeply engaged in filling and emptying containers, developing their fine motor skills and mathematical thinking as they explore concepts like volume and capacity.

Health and self-care have been another focus, with children learning about the importance of looking after their teeth. They’ve been practicing brushing and talking about how to keep their mouths healthy, linking to the EYFS goal of managing personal needs independently.
The children have been practicing on teeth models to see where all the teeth were and how to get the toothbrush in all those hard to reach places.

In their imaginative play, the children have been caring for baby dolls—washing, dressing, and feeding them. This nurturing role play supports personal, social, and emotional development, as well as communication and language skills.
