A warm welcome to everyone at the start of a new academic year – to our returning families and to our new friends.
We hope that you have all had a good summer and the staff team are looking forward to helping everyone settle back in to their routines again this term.
We have started the new term visiting lots of children and families at home. Your child may have moved to a new class or be starting with us for the first time. During this term we will be getting to know you and your child and supporting them as they settle with us.
Building relationships and getting to know each other is an important part of our nursery curriculum and this is supported by all of our settling plans.
Members of the Senior Leadership Team are always around at Welcome Time and out on the gates to help everyone and to answer any questions.
Please let us know how we can help you if you have any worries or concerns.
Staff News
We have welcomed two new teachers to the staff team this September, they will be joining the Fox Room Team in Early Years 3.

Rachel (Monday and Tuesday)

Sarah (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday)
Rachel and Sarah have both previously been teaching in early years classes in local primary schools and will be sharing the teaching role in Fox Room across the week.
Dates for Your Diary
INSET Days
We have five INSET days at regular intervals during the academic year to support staff training and our school development priorities.
INSET days are usually planned for Wednesdays to reduce disruption for children and families. Wednesday is our ‘change-over’ day when many children only attend their half day. Closing provision on a Wednesday means that lost learning is minimised.
Our first INSET day this year will be on WEDNESDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER. The school will be closed for all children.
Applying for a School Place for 2026
If your child was born between 1st September 2021 and 31st August 2022 you need to apply for a new reception school place . You need to apply by 15th January 2026.
This can be done online on the following website : Apply for a new reception primary place
Offers of school places for on time applications will be sent on 16thApril 2026.
If you have any questions regarding your child going to school, please speak with Leigh in the office (alternatively you can email her on leigh.rowe@bristol-schools.uk).
Friends Group
The group meets regularly each term and it is a great opportunity for you to meet other parents and carers and take some time for your wellbeing.
The group usually meets on Wednesday mornings – the first drop-in meeting of the new year will be on Wednesday 1st October.

Car Park
Thank you for supporting us to keep everyone safe as they arrive and leave the school site.
Flexible nursery school drop off is between 8:45-9:15am to help families with other school runs. The car park can become very busy between 8:45 and 8:55am. If you are able to avoid this peak time this will help congestion and improve parking spaces for everyone.
We share parts of the care park with Knowle-DGE next door and there is also lots of extra traffic at the moment due to the construction works adjacent to the site.
Please be aware of others and larger vehicles as you enter and exit the school site.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
Communication
We use our website and our Facebook page to keep you informed of what is going on at the nursery. You can browse through the website and find your child’s class, see the ‘News from the Rooms’ and find out more about the school.
We will be updating information and key pages as the term gets underway.

Concept Photography is Coming to Nursery
Concept Photography is coming to the Nursery on Wednesday 22nd October to take individual photographs of the children.
The staff will take the children to have their photos in their session, unless you think that your child will not sit for the photo. If you would like to take your child to the photographer yourself, please speak with Reception who will book you in a slot.
There is no obligation to buy the photographs, but these can make ideal Christmas presents for your friends and family.
Any questions, please speak to the Reception team.
