A warm welcome to everyone at the start of a new academic year – to our returning families and to our new friends. We hope that you have all had a good summer and the staff team are looking forward to helping everyone settle back into their routines again this term.
We have started the new term visiting lots of children and families at home. Your child may have moved to a new class or be starting with us for the first time. During this term we will be getting to know you and your child and supporting them as they settle with us.
Building relationships and getting to know each other is an important part of our nursery curriculum and this is supported by all of our settling plans. Members of the Senior Leadership Team are always around at Welcome Time and out on the gates to help everyone and to answer any questions.
Please let us know how we can help you if you have any worries or concerns.

Food at Knowle West Nursery School
This year all children will have the opportunity to have lunch at nursery, and this may be a new experience for them. At the school we provide healthy hot meals cooked on site by our own chef, Tatiana. Some of you may have had a taste when you came for your Stay and Play visit in July.
Eating together is an important time to learn social skills and try new foods. The benefits for children having a healthy hot meal at school is also known to have a positive impact on physical and mental health and well-being. We are really keen for everyone to have hot meals with us.
Our new two week menu starts on Monday 16th September and a hot meal costs £2.60 per day.
PLEASE NOTE WE ARE A NUT FREE NURSERY as we have children with severe nut allergies. Please check ingredients of your child’s packed lunch before coming to Nursery

Parent/Carer Group
George and Leigh run a regular parent/carer group which is a great way to meet other parents.
We will be advertising this group shortly, so watch this space for dates after the half term break.
We look forward to meeting you.
Communication
We use our website and our Facebook and Instagram page to keep you informed of what is going on at the nursery. You can browse through the website and find your child’s class, see the ‘News from the Rooms’ and find out more about the school.

Dates for Your Diary
We have five INSET days at regular intervals during the academic year to support staff training and our school development priorities.
INSET days are usually planned for Wednesdays to reduce disruption for children and families. Wednesday is our ‘change-over’ day when many children only attend their half day. Closing provision on a Wednesday means that lost learning is minimised.
