Knowle West Nursery School celebrated World Book Day with a series of reading‑focused activities that brought families and staff together to highlight the importance of stories in early years education. Throughout the week, parents and carers were invited to stay during morning drop‑off to share books with the children, creating a calm and engaging start to the day and supporting the Early Years Foundation Stage emphasis on communication, language and a love of reading.
Staff also joined in by sharing their favourite stories with the children, helping to nurture reading for pleasure and strengthen the nursery school’s culture of storytelling. Information was shared with families about the value of reading together at home, reinforcing how regular shared reading supports children’s language development and early literacy.
To mark the occasion, every child received a book voucher to spend, giving them the chance to choose a story of their own and continue building positive reading habits beyond the nursery school setting.
Thanks to all families who took part and supported the celebration.
