Squishing, Mixing and Exploring: Ladybird Room Gets Sensory!

by | Mar 12, 2026 | Ladybird Room, News From the Rooms

Children in Ladybird Room at Knowle West Nursery School have been having a wonderful time getting their hands into all sorts of brilliant sensory experiences!

Inside, the children have been investigating rice, water and a wonderfully squidgy mix of foam and Weetabix, exploring how different materials look, feel and behave. This kind of sensory play is fantastic for early years development, building curiosity, concentration and early scientific thinking as children discover what happens when different materials are combined.

Out in the garden, the children have also been exploring their outdoor environment together, which is always a great opportunity for building friendships and developing confidence in the world around them.
