We have been loving our time together in the garden and watching the new season unfold. We worked together to clear the beds of weeds, apply mulch to the beds, sow pea seeds and plant potatoes. This has helped us learn how to work together, take ownership of our space, enjoy the sensory feel of the soil and look at how things grow and change through the seasons.
In Hedgehog Room, our regular exposure to block play has enabled us to make more and more complex models. We have been practising making arches, roads and enclosures. We have been noticing how the blocks fit together, what is the same and what is different.
Look at what we can do with our hands! We love any opportunity to get the scissors out to practise our cutting, or thread to make bird feeders. This is helping us build our finger strength and coordination, ready for writing.
Some things you might enjoy doing at home:
- Can you spot any blossom on the trees or any signs of spring?
- Can you count how many socks are coming out of the washing machine?
