Children in Squirrel Room at Knowle West Nursery School have been enjoying a busy and joyful time exploring food, music and the outdoors together. Through hands-on experiences and shared moments, children have been building confidence, curiosity and friendships.
As part of their work with the Children’s Kitchen, children investigated a range of fruit and vegetables. They practised chopping with support, talked about what they could see, smell and feel, and tasted different foods. These experiences supported children’s independence, fine motor skills and language development, while also helping them learn about healthy choices and where food comes from.

Music has also been an important part of the children’s days. Children explored a variety of musical instruments, experimenting with the sounds they could make and listening carefully to one another.

The children have also been making the most of the sunshine, enjoying time outdoors with their friends. Being outside has given children space to move, talk and play together, supporting their physical development and well-being.
