September 2026 Newsletter (Term 1)

by | Sep 18, 2026 | News, Newsletters

A warm welcome to everyone at the start of a new academic year – to our returning families and to our new friends.

The staff team are looking forward to helping everyone settle back in to their routines again this term.

We have started the new term visiting lots of children and families at home. Your child may have moved to a new class or be starting with us for the first time.

During this term we will be getting to know you and your child and supporting them as they settle with us.

Building relationships and getting to know each other is an important part of our nursery curriculum and this is supported by all of our settling plans. Members of the Senior Leadership Team are always around at Welcome Time and out on the gates to help everyone and to answer any questions.

Please let us know how we can help you if you have any worries or concerns.

Staff News

We said goodbye to one of our nursery practitioners Adele at the end of the summer term and we all wish her well in her new job.

We have welcomed Mel to the team this term and she brings her Primary School experience to the Hedgehog Team and Early Years 3.

Dates for Your Diary

INSET Days

We have five INSET days at regular intervals during the academic year to support staff training and our school development priorities.

INSET days are usually planned for Wednesdays to reduce disruption for children and families. Wednesday is our ‘change-over’ day when many children only attend their half day. Closing provision on a Wednesday means that lost learning is minimised.

Our first INSET day this year will be on WEDNESDAY 7th OCTOBER. The school will be closed for all children.

Concept Photography is coming to Nursery

Concept Photography is coming to the Nursery on Wednesday 21st October to take individual photographs of the children.

The staff will take the children to have their photos in their session, unless you think that your child will not sit for the photo. If you would like to take your child to the photographer yourself, please speak with Reception who will book you in a slot.

There is no obligation to buy the photographs, but these can make ideal Christmas presents for your friends and family. Any questions, please speak to the Reception team.

Our Friends Group

Our Friends Group is our parent/carer group which is supported by George and Leigh from the staff team. The group meets regularly each term and it is a great way to meet other parents and carers, connect  and find out more about the work of the school.

· Morning drop in @ 11 am before pick up

· Afternoon drop in @ 12.30 after drop off

Car Park

Thank you for supporting us to keep everyone safe as they arrive and leave the school site.

Flexible nursery school drop off is between 8:45-9:15am to help families with other school runs. The car park can become very busy between 8:45 and 8:55am. If you are able to avoid this peak time this will help congestion and improve parking spaces for everyone.

We share parts of the care park with Knowle-DGE next door and there is also lots of extra traffic at the moment due to the construction works adjacent to the site.

Please be aware of others and larger vehicles as you enter and exit the school site.

Food and Allergy Safety

New guidance around managing allergies in schools has become statutory from September 2026. We are committed to providing a safe environment for all children and we ask for your cooperation to minimize risk as we have children with severe nut allergies.

Please look out for the accompanying information and how you can help us.
