Children in the Ladybird Room at Knowle West Nursery School have had a busy and joyful Term 4, with lots of opportunities to build independence, relationships and curiosity about the world around them.

A strong focus this term has been on developing self-care skills. Children have been practising how to clean their teeth and learning about personal hygiene through play, including helping dolls sit on the potty. These experiences support children’s growing independence and confidence while also encouraging an early understanding of healthy routines in a familiar, playful way.

Social play has been a highlight, with tea parties providing a lovely space for children to make connections with their peers.

Exploration and sensory play have also featured strongly. Children have used their senses to investigate spring flowers in the water tray, noticing colours, textures and smells. Outdoors, they have enjoyed the sunshine, listened carefully to the sounds around them, and worked together to make their own bird nests. These experiences have encouraged curiosity, creativity, and an early awareness of the natural world, while supporting physical development and well-being through time spent outdoors.
