Welcome to Squirrel Room
Squirrel class is part of the school’s provision for 3 and 4-year-olds. It is led by our qualified Early Years Special Educational Needs Coordinator Cath. It has a higher adult to child ratio and a smaller class size.
This bespoke provision offers a secure base and is staffed by a consistent team of key people. Staff work together with parents to learn each individual child’s strengths and needs and plan resources and routines that are attuned to every child’s unique learning journey and developmental pathway. Working with parents in this way supports families to feel reassured that their child’s needs are being understood and met in a nurturing and responsive way.
The enabling environment offers opportunities for multi-sensory exploration to support children’s sensory needs and emotional regulation. This also includes a designated food exploration zone where children can explore food in a multi-sensory way.
Children’s understanding and communication is supported through intensive interaction and the use of visuals and signing. Our commissioned Speech and Language Therapist Anna Chimenti offers regular support and advice to the children, families and staff team.
Across all our rooms, we offer flexible session options to suit your family’s needs.
We provide 15-hour funded places over two and a half days. Monday and Tuesday all day, plus Wednesday morning or Wednesday afternoon, plus Thursday and Friday all day.
We also offer 30-hour places, which run all day Monday to Friday, subject to availability.
